Story:

PERRY ORR – KISS MY DISCO DJ

Perry came to the first Kiss My Disco “Stick It On Night” at the Brunswick in Hove back in January with his Dad. He was keen to play some Northern Soul tunes he was clearly passionate about. Perry showed real enthusiasm and took his DJing seriously. As a result he was invited to attend our DJ workshops and has never missed a session since.

Perry had not played in front of a crowd before and took to it naturally. He has since played at several Kiss My Disco events in East Sussex including Lewes, Eastbourne and Brighton. He has invested in his first set of turntables and has been tracking down his favourite tunes on 7” single on ebay.

Perry has made new friends through the workshops and his confidence has grown considerably both on and off the decks. He says “I really enjoy DJing, I have to concentrate on the mixer, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve got more confidence and I would like to do my own gigs, or maybe with my Dad.”

His Dad has noticed a difference too, “It’s great to see him happy, this gives him time out from other stress in his life”. Perry’s dad, Paul, also DJ’s and supports him to attend the workshops each week. “It’s been a really good bonding thing for me and Perry, it gives us an opportunity to spend some quality time together”.

Perry’s involvement with Kiss My Disco has been a definite success story, certainly for Perry but also for the project as well. He is a real pleasure to work with and brings a lot of enthusiasm to the sessions.

Perry’s next gig will be at the De La Warr Pavillion in Bexhill on the 11th July and I’m sure there will be many more to come.
