Stay Up Late – explaining more about our history

When we look back at how Stay Up Late started we’ve been really lucky to do some crazy and exciting things. It all started with Heavy Load and the documentary being made. That led to touring the UK, playing in New York and Europe, and even writing the theme tune for Channel 4’s ‘Cast Offs’ series.

Stay Up Late, the story so far...

As the work of the charity grew we’ve released the Wild Things compilations (three so far), won various awards and of course started up the Gig Buddies project.

In the past few years we’ve also travelled far and wide in the name of Stay Up Late, places like the US, Iceland, Malta, Australia, Spain, Poland and Belgium. These are all things we couldn’t have imagined just a few years ago and its so exciting for us to see the interest in our work grow, and hopefully for more opportunities to be opened up to more and more people with learning disabilities.

To mark this year’s Annual General Meeting (24th Oct) we’ve produced an infographic to explain the story of Stay Up Late, how the Gig Buddies fits in, some of the things we’ve achieved and what’s planned next.

We wanted to try and tell the story of how we’ve come to do what we do and some of the highlights along the way. There’s loads more that we could have talked about as well but hopefully this will give you a flavour of what we’re about.

Massive thanks to the wonderful Beckie Waters of Distil for all the creative design work.

If you’d like more information on our work please do drop us a line as we’re always happy to talk to people and also happy to come to meetings, and run training sessions, to enable more people to get involved in our work around the UK.
