On your marks, get set, go…!
We’ve been given an amazing opportunity to raise funds for our Gig Buddies project by the wonderful Spirit of 2012 Trust and their 5 mile run round the Olympic Park.
For every £1 we raise (up to £1000) they will match it with £4. So we’re aiming to raise £1000 in the next two weeks meaning we’ll have £5000 would go straight to enabling us to cover the costs of running Gig Buddies, enabling more people with learning disabilities and autism to enjoy active social lives and see live music.
And while this may all sound like great fun and very rock ‘n roll, at the centre of it all is a very serious purpose, to enable people facing social isolation to be actively involved in their communities and to develop long lasting friendships. That’s not just good for the health of people with learning disabilities, it’s also good for the health of communities.
To support us and raise these much needed funds please see the wonderful Evie Rothwell’s fundraising page. Evie is a keen athlete and is going to represent Stay Up Late on the day of the run.
