Extra Time’s young punks
It was fantastic to reunite most if the Stay Up Late (who’s first, last and only performance was at Buitenbeenpop Festival in August of this year) to run a workshop with the children at Extra Time’s holiday club in Brighton, teaching the kids how to write a punk song.
They’d been focussing on anti-bullying messages so we spent time with the kids talking about this and thinking about what lyrics could go in the song.
Here’s what they came up with:
STOP DONT DO THAT
STOP DONT DO THAT
STOP DONT DO THAT
STOP DONT DO THAT
PLEASE BE HELPFUL
PLEASE BE KIND
PLEASE DO NOT POINT
PLEASE DO NOT SHOUT
DONT DIS MY ABILITY
AND I WONT DIS YOURS
Oi Oi Oi Oi!
This was such a lovely session to be part of and thank you to Extra Time for inviting us in a trusting us not to corrupt the kids too much with our punk ways.
And here’s some photos from the session.
