All In One Day Festival – a lockdown event by all the Gig Buddies projects

How Coronavirusfest started

Coronavirusfest started as an idea on Wednesday 18th March as I worried about how we could keep the gigs going for our Gig Buddies when lockdown was looking more and more likely.

You may remember the mood in the country was getting lower and that morning on Lauren Laverne’s BBC6 breakfast show she was asking for positive stories to help lift everyone’s moods. I emailed her producer as I’d recently done a little piece for them and 5 minutes later. I told her about how we were setting up ‘Coronavirusfest’ to keep live music going through lockdown and then hurriedly created a Facebook Page so it didn’t look like I was making it up.

5 minutes later our virtual festival was almost accidentally therefore launched on BBC 6 Music and when it started we had nightly performances and as lockdown has continued we’ve gone from 3 a week to now 1 a week with a huge number and variety of wonderful musicians and DJs.

It’s now time for us to take a break from running the festival but not before we have one big celebration.
