A New Year resolution you can keep. Be someone’s buddy!

Become a Gig Buddies or Sports Buddies volunteer

It’s no secret that most New Year’s resolutions don’t work. The New Year feels like a significant moment in time to do something and take stock of our lives. The reality is that it’s hard to adopt new habits.

We’re also in a moment in time where many of us feel we need to do more to connect with our communities and find ways to practically help while people are struggling with the effects of the pandemic, the cost of living crisis or other worries.

The good news is that if you feel like you want to do something to help, we do an answer, and you’re not going to have to change your habits drastically. By becoming a Gig Buddies volunteer, you can enable a person with a learning disability to get active and be part of things while doing what you already enjoy. It’s also a resolution you can keep because it’s something you want to do.

Don’t just believe us though; The Guardian also put being a Gig Buddy in its list of 52 ways to spread joy this year.

In this short video two friends discuss what New Year’s Eve is like if you don’t get the support you need to stay up late.

By being a Gig Buddy volunteer, you can be part of enabling this sort of thing to not happen any more for people with learning disabilities.

It’s a classic WIN, WIN – read on to find out more and how to sign up.
