Stay Up Late

A campaign for people with learning disabilities… fighting for the right to party!

About the campaign

Who are we?

We are a punk band called Heavy Load. We are made up of musicians with and without learning disabilities.

What is our campaign about?

Lots of people come to our gigs. But they cannot stay out late to watch us. They have to go home ealry because their staff finish work at 10pm.

Heavy Load are fed up with this! We think people with a learning disability have the right to stay up late and have some fun.

We want do something about this – and you can help us!

What we want

We want people with a learning disability to know they can stay up late.

We want support workers to work different hours so that people with a learning disability can Stay Up Late. We know support workers do not mind working different hours, as long as they have enough time to plan.

Rotas need to be about what WE want. What do YOU want?

The Valuing People White Paper says:
“The Government’s objective is to enable people with learning disabilities to have as much choice and control as possible over their lives and the services and support they receive… A person-centred approach will be essential to deliver real change in the lives of people with learning disabilities.”

Heavy Load says:

We want to stay up late
We want to have some fun!
